an intimate evening of connection & sound
You are invited to join us for this evening of collaborative song, poetry and spoken word.
The intention behind Voices of the Earth is to build a community arts practice that is based in indigenous arts, ritual and is healing centered.
Voices is open to all and holds deep roots in traditional Native American ceremonial communities so that it is grounded by ancient wisdom and indigenous understanding.
Voices of the Earth is healing justice. It is a place where healing and social justice meets with an intention that we develop understanding as people re-indigenizing - becoming of the Earth once again - re-solving community and re-sourcing each other from expanded places.
Voices of the Earth is a place of embodied listening and learning, with each other , responding in our bodies, with other bodies expressing our grief, our joy, and new understanding.
Voices is a place of honoring what is emerging in us and thru us, personally and collectively, thru words and sound. We sing and gather not to blissfully by-pass and separate ourselves from all that is happening-- but so as to become more present, embodied and empowered in our lives. We believe these practices to be powerful ways of self-regulating & co-regulating, finding comfort and healing, growing and becoming in community.
Led by Native & Indigenous Community leader, Spiritual Activist & Traditional Singer Gemma Benton, this evening is an entry into soulful conversations, ritual & collective healing song and energy healing.
All are welcome. Space is limited.

Let's Stay Connected
Some Important Notes:
This is a drug and alcohol-free event.
Please dress comfortably. Although it is Summer time, we ask for modest wear such as tank top/t-shirt and jeans or skirts.
This is not a traditional Native event. This is a mixed community event. The song and the music style are not traditional. Because the leaders are traditional Native singers, it will have a Native feel to it. Having said that this is not an invitation to exploit or "take", it is an invitation for all to just "be" together without having to control or protect sacred items or practices.
We believe this to be necessary and key to our collective healing. In many ways this is rooted in our journey as Earth peoples, voices rising up for the Earth, for the peoples of the Earth-- without the rigidity of government or other man made structures.
We believe it is something that you find enjoyable and respectfully innovative and supportive for our Native and Indigenous communities.
Native & Indigenous vocal artists & musicians, please contact Gemma directly.
